I welcome @Europarl_EN decision to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and as a state which uses means of terrorism. Russia must be isolated at all levels and held accountable in order to end its long-standing policy of terrorism in Ukraine and across the globe.

The European Parliament, which is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Has just voted to approve a resolution that holds the Russian Federation accountable as a state sponsor of terrorism. It seems that 494 of the 596 members present voted yes with 58 nays. We will provide a detailed list of the yes and no votes as that information becomes available.
“Russia is directing attacks against the civilian population and targeting civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, medical facilities and schools,” a document prepared by the European Parliament’s research service states.
The concept of “state sponsor of terrorism” is a term used by the U.S. State Department to designate those countries “that have repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism.” However, even the U.S. has refrained from such actions due to the risk of unforeseen legal consequences.
While this action is mostly symbolic considering the massive sanctions already placed on the Russian Federation, this will serve to further isolate Russia in the European Community.
