Update (2355 EST): One suspect has sustained non-life-threatening injuries after NYPD officers shot him in the shoulder after swinging a large machete-like weapon and striking two officers. Both officers have been transported to Bellevue hospital, and their condition is still unreported.

Update (2234 EST): One suspect is in custody after two NYPD officers were assaulted. Initial reports say that an officer sustained a stab wound to the head, another was struck with a a pipe, and a cordon has been set up after a backpack was dropped at the intersection of West 52nd Street and 8th Avenue.
Reports are emerging of a possible officer involved stabbing and shots fired on 8th Avenue near Times Square during the NYC New Years celebration.
