Update (1016 EST): The Chinese Foreign Ministry is pledging all available assistance as casualty numbers trickle in from surrounding villages in the far flung provinces on the Pakistani border. More than 1,000 have been reported killed. The Chinese government has reported that no Chinese nationals have been killed in the earthquake.

Update (0001 EST 22JUN22): Mohammed Raffi Rahul, head of the Pharmacy Department for Paktika Province Public Health Department is saying that more than 75 homes have been destroyed with more than 200 killed in villages surrounding Wachaki in the Gyan district.

Update (1731 EST): The US Geoglogical Service located the epicaenter on the Pakistan-Afghan border at a depth of 50.8km.


The Indian National Center for Seismology has registered an earthquake with an epicenter 189km South of Kabul at 7.0 on the Richter Scale. 22km from Khost.

Bystanders are feeling remora in Islamabad, Pakistan to Delhi India.

The last last 7.0 earthquake was in 2015 and killed 399 people. With the deadliest on record being a 6.5 near Takhar that killed more than 4,000 people in 1998. This is developing. Check back for updates.
