Update (1155 EST): The pilot is in custody after landing the aircraft in a field in Ashland, MS.

Update (1058 EST): The pilot may have been identified as Cory Patterson.


Update (1022 EST): Police radio have indicated that the plane may be purposely crashed in a lake between Ashland and Hickory Flat, MS. The aircraft is allegedly running low on fuel.

Update (0938): Aircrfat has departed Tupelo airspace and is now circling the Toyota Plant in Blue Springs, MS. Aircraft has been confirmed as 1987 Beech C90A (Fixed wing multi-engine — 9 seats / 2 engines). Owner: Southeast Aviation, LLC | Oxford, MS, US

Update (0846 EST): Aircraft appears to be a Beechcraft King Air.

Update (0837 EST): Evacuations are underway throughout Tupelo according to authorities.

At approximately 0800 EST, authorities reported that a man had stolen a twin engine airplane and is currently flying circles over a Walmart on West Main St. in Tupelo, Mississippi, threatening to crash the aircraft into the superstore.

As of writing this the plane is still airborne. This is developing.
