Former Ukrainian Security Service Leader Arrested for Treason

Moments ago Ukrainian Media reported on the arrest of Oleg Kulinich, the former leader of the Ukrainian Security Service for Crimea who was arrested by the same organization he was relieved from. Kulinich served in that position since October after the firing of his predecessor Yevhen Netuzhilov, who had held the post since November 2019.

Kulinich remained in office, despite suspicious he collaborated with Russian agents during the February 22 invasion and since occupation, and was fired President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky 2nd of March.

Kulinich was informed of suspicion under article 111 of the Criminal Code, the sanction of the article provides for up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The SBU made this statement to Ukrainian media when discussing Russian targeting of SBU agents for treason: “SBU employees were also front-runners in such cases, which indicates a tendency towards self-purification of the Service. By exposing such situations, rather than hiding them, we are implementing a course to build a modern and effective special service capable of countering a strong enemy that harms the state security of Ukraine.”
