Russia’s Ministry of defense has reported that a “terrorist attack” has left 11 dead and another 15 wounded at a military training group in Belgorod, Russia, which sits along the border with Ukraine. According to Russian military officials, two attackers carried out the shooting and were only identified as being “citizens” from a “CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) country.” Other Russian media have suggested the attackers were from Tajikistan. Both were said to have been killed.
Russian media outlet Baza reported that 22 were killed and 16 were wounded, saying that the attack was carried out by three soldiers, in which two were killed and one escaped.
There have been speculations about the motive being Islamic terrorism, while other believe the attack was carried out by disgruntled consripts.
